Peter Dunn is a dynamic and dedicated professional with over 30 years experience as a Certified Public Accountant. Peter works tirelessly for his business clients, maintaining a primary focus on business tax and consulting issues. He provides his clients with creative solutions for technical business tax issues and clearly interprets proposed tax laws. Additionally, he provides CFO/controller services to certain clients as a way to support the owners and management team in achieving their financial goals.

Particular areas that Peter advises his clients include compensation, financing, fringe benefits, retirement plans, valuations, business formation & start-up, and real estate cost segregation & depreciation analysis.

As a trusted and respected business advisor, Peter understands the importance that his profession has within the business community. While accounting is deemed to be the "language" of business, CPA's are called on to serve a multitude of roles beyond just interpreting the numbers - assurance services, expert consulting, technology, financial planning, and advisory services are all important features that Peter can either provide the answer to the client's problem or knows how to get the answer.

Like the other members of Practical Decisions, Peter has great admiration for the entrepreneurial spirit that resides in those willing to take on the risk of owning and running a business. In fact, in 2003 he co-founded Capital Area Staffing Solutions, an employment staffing agency with offices in Augusta and Bangor that offers temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct-hire administrative positions to businesses. This experience has allowed him to better appreciate the concerns and the opportunities his clients face each and every day. In particular, to use a phrase from Michael Gerber of E-Myth Worldwide, it has allowed him to share with his clients how to "work on their business, not just in it".

Peter holds a BS degree in Accounting from Thomas College in Waterville, ME and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
